We are Richard and Di Clatworthy and we moved to Dairy House in 2000, having lived only a mile away in a thatched Devon longhouse for the previous decade.  We ran our own business creating hand-crafted knitwear and award-winning, natural form wooden boxes from indigenous British timbers, specialising in yew.   We have now diversified by converting our existing craft studios into very special holiday accommodation.

Having spent many years travelling extensively we have tried to incorporate many of the innovative ideas and extra luxuries that impressed us while away.  An example in point is that while in Australia we found that many outback cabins were too remote to be stocked regularly by the guests, so it was natural for the owners to try and include basics to make the stay more enjoyable and carefree.  To this end, we always include a welcome pack with wine.

We have found while travelling that sometimes you find a place where you just want to chill out, and when this happens you find you don’t have a book, a film, or anything else to while away the lazy days or the occasional rainy one.   In our holiday accommodation this doesn’t matter because you will find an abundance of books, plenty of paperbacks (that you may take away if you haven’t finished before you leave), over 100 DVDs in each cottage, and CDs.  And  smart HD 49" TVs with  Amazon Echoes with Alexa.

It has always been important to us on holiday to be able to have our private space but yet have a support structure available to make our stay enjoyable and worry-free.   To this end, we have tried to create two havens where the guests don’t interfere with each other and can if they wish keep themselves to themselves.  Our house is nearby, and one of us is usually on site to offer advice or to solve any problems that may occasionally arise.  At all times your privacy will be respected.
